My Weight Lifting Experience
By admin | January 31, 2010
I’m sure this has happened to others who have started a new kind of weight training routine, but I could use some hints. I’ve been weightlifting for years now and while I was working in Northern BC I managed to cut down to ~200 lbs at ~6-8% bf and finally could see my abs, but was looking very lean at 6’3″. So, now that I’m a grad student I’m much less active during the day (my days are 90% reading/typing 10% sleeping) except for my gym visits. According to Sean (and others) I have been over-training quite significantly at 12-15 sets per muscle group and 5-6 days a week (there was a split, but over training nonetheless). So, I’ve taken it on faith that I was doing too much and have reduced weightlifting to 3-4 days a week and 5-7 sets per group. I’ve noticed a fairly significant gain in strength and I’m not exhausted all the time.
